It’s been a long time since I wrote a blog post on here and that has been for a number of reasons. The main reason is due to me deciding to change jobs.
My previous job was a good job, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that after 11 years, it was time to move on. The positive thing for me is that I have begun working for VMware.
If you have been in a good stable job for a number of years, it is a pretty scary thought to be out looking for a job again. I was luckier than some in the fact that I didn’t need to change jobs and I could have continued to work at my previous employer for a number of additional years. I was choosing to change my job and was only looking at one company to work for… VMware.
You may think that I was being cocky by only looking at a single company but believe me I wasn’t. I had been thinking about a change of job for a little while but hadn’t done anything about it. I had updated my CV for when I was ready to go for it and thought that I would have a look on the available jobs at VMware. I looked at a couple and thought that I would give it a go… if nothing came of the applications, then I’d continue to work for my old company for a while longer.
Before I knew it, I was having a telephone interview for one of the positions and haven’t looked back since.
I have never really worked at a place like VMware before, and it certainly is refreshing. It may be the youthful nature of the company but my stress levels have certainly reduced since changing roles.
I suppose what I am really saying is, that if you believe that you can work for a company like VMware… then go for it, what have you got to lose!!!
